Do you ever just feel like you're going through phases where things are
always, and I mean, always on the go? I love summer - the only problem
with summer is that everyone wants to do things all the time. I think
we've had something on the go every weekend since the end of June. It's
exhausting - so we've decided that we're not doing ANYTHING until
September. Maybe a couple of D&D sessions, but that's it. Lochlan is
tired, we are tired so while everything has been fun - from vacation, to
weddings, to Texas. it's also been exhausting. So we're trying to slow
down. Get back into some routines and trying to get on top of things.
Lochlan moves to Room 4 at daycare next week - I'm dreading it. Not
because he's not ready, he is. Not because I'm sad that he's growing
up, although I am. But because transitions are traditionally hell for
this poor little boy. He does NOT like his world the change, much! He
can handle new and exciting things provided it includes a Mommy, a Daddy
or his grandmas and grandpas. If it's a new thing he has to do by
himself. then it's much more difficult. I think he starts transitioning
this week, I hope it goes okay. He does like Room 4 more and he's
always the first to volunteer to go visit when needed. I've started
talking about it and he's all for it - so hopefully this means
transitions will go smoothly.
Speaking of transitions. we're finally starting to get serious about his
soother - but this kid is far too smart. Here are some of our
conversations:
Me: "When you turn 4, your soother will be very old and it will be time
to put it in the garbage. Not right now - when you turn 4."
Lochlan: "When I turn 4, MY soother won't be old! It will be new in my
truck!"
Me: "Sigh"
Me: "You are a big boys, big boys don't need soothers, they are only for
little babies"
Lochlan: "I can have a soother! Big Boys can have soothers in my
truck."
Me: "Sigh"
Me: "Do you remember the Big Boy Lego Daddy has under the stairs?"
Lochlan: "YEAH!"
Me: "Well, you're getting to be such a big boy, you can play with the
lego, but only if you put your soother in the garbage."
Lochlan: "Okay!!"
Me: "So that means your soother is all gone, you will have the lego, but
the soother will be all gone, okay?"
Lochlan: "No! I'll have the big boy lego and the soother in my truck!"
Me: "Sigh"
He'll tell me he's still a little baby, that when he turns four he won't
be a big boy. This is bordering on ridiculous. I'm going to try this
week offering him the lego, and if he chucks his soother in the garbage
then we'll give him the lego. Otherwise, on Saturday, I'm just going to
chuck it. Then we'll have all weekend to deal with it. Since we've
cleaned out most of the moving crap there shouldn't be anymore soother's
floating around, hopefully we can break him of it by the time his
birthday rolls around.
But potty training - I think we're finally over that hump. We're still
using pull ups at bed, but he is using the toilet during the day without
a problem. Although I'm sure it entertains our friends to no end when
he announces "Mommy!! I have to go poo!" Once his pullups are
consistenly dry in the morning, we'll try that out. But there is only
so much I can handle and the soother plus Room4 is enough right now!
Hmmmm. this is plenty long enough, I think. I have macros to fix -
blah.
P.S. I've started writing privately again - if you had the password and
lost it, let me know. If you don't have it and think you should, let me
